Black Seabass

Black Seabass are one of the best eating bottom fish we have in our Northeast waters. Their white flakey fillets make them a great option for a variety of recipes. In the spring during May and June they are especially plentiful, making it easy to catch limits of these tasty fish. Double headers of nice keepers are common, even for novice anglers. This is a great fishery to introduce new anglers or children to fishing. When the Seabass find the sandeels in the spring, we see great fishing on jigs and teasers. This results in a load of fun for anglers at all levels. We recommend a 6-7 ft spinning or conventional rod for this fishing.
